Does your club provide a beginner's course ?
There is no beginner's course. You can join the ongoing practice at any time. This may be somewhat exhausting at the beginning, but bears the advantage, that you start out practicing with advanced students only.

When can I start ?
You can join the ongoing practice at any time.

What's the fee ?
At present 16E/month for people with regular income and 8E/month for people without regular income.

Which outfit do I need for practice ?
A Judo dress would be fine. For beginners some sort of exercise dress will do.

But I am not the athletic type ...
Never mind. Strength and stamina will be gained through the course of practice.

Are there any limits concerning age?
The lower limit is 16 years in our club. There is no upper limit.

Can women practice Aikido ?
Of course. In fact the flowing and rhythmic character of Aikido movements appeals more to many women than hard punches or conditioning the knuckles.

Is Aikido useful for the purpose of self defense ?
Generally speaking, yes. Since the tactics and movements of Aikido are somewhat more complicated compared to other martial arts, one needs more practice and longer time to reach that level. Of course this depends on the effort you are willing to spend in practice.

Do you practice some sort of meditation during class ?
Aikido is moving meditation. What's the meaning of this daring claim ? Much awareness should be directed to the movements performed during Aikido practice. Awareness for the posture, the breath, the partner's Ki ... Deepening awareness naturally leads to meditation.
